Designer Picks : Tamara’s Mixed Metals

Mixing metals has been considered faux-pas in the past. However, I believe mixing brass and chrome metal tones can be extremely chic. The key to this trend is balance and  some restraint – too much of either tone may look dated or overwhelming. I love art deco and neoclassic inspired home decor pieces in brass, I think this adds a touch of glamour with a nod to great historical design periods.

Here I have picked my favourite home decor pieces for a glamorous mixed metal bedroom. I started with the classic designed fabric headboard with brass nail-head detailing and fell in love with these antiqued mirror bedside tables. To accessorize these two staple pieces of furniture, I picked a chrome starburst mirror and an art deco inspired geometric brass based lamp. To finish off this bedroom, I would use chic throw pillows in white mongolian fur, silver metallic circles and a grey silk weave.

My favourite Benjamin Moore colours for this space are Horizon Grey 2141-50 and Excalibur Gray 2118-50.

What do you think of mixed metals? would you use these tones in your home?
