Fashion Interior : Plaid & Tartan

Fashion and home decor trends go hand-in-hand, whatever is popular on the runway will quickly become popular in home decor. The Fall 2012 – Winter 2013 runways were full of cozy trends from thick cable knits to classic red and black plaid and tartan. This trend is a perfect way to decorate your home for fall and carry through winter.

Plaid and tartan are by no means a new print or design, the prints have been altered in different ways from scale to application to create a modern vibe. To ensure your home decor reads 2012 rather than 1960, use these patterns sparingly – don’t upholster your couch in brown plaid! Use this as inspiration for accent pieces within your space and pair with other warm fabrics such as felt, wool and faux-fur for a cozy fall feel. Above we have featured a grouping of fall inspired home decor all available at Mountain Home Decor: black wire cage pendant lights, grey felt and leather chaise, antique car decoration, Eames inspired ‘Eiffle’ chair in black and medium wood, grey and cream cowhide rug, red faux-books, black wire sphere set, Red and black check felt cushions, Wood pillar side table.

Would you add plaid or tartan to your home decor this fall/winter? Or opt for fall inspired materials instead?
