Getting hooked on the new animal chic
Living in a mountain ski resort, some tend to go a little overboard with the lodge look of days gone by- bear rugs, big moose heads, bear throws and plaid fabrics.( I have to admit I fell into this trend by having my couch reupholstered with a red/blue/green plaid in the 90’s) Animals and animal decor were a definite must to complete the rustic log cabin retreat look in the woods. While bears are still a cute decor addition in Whistler- long gone are the big furry trophy heads above the fireplace.
Today animals are slowly creeping back into modern and even romantic upscale apartments and homes with a classier look. Animal chic is now trending in glossy white, metallic silver and even black adding a touch of glamour to your space. Who would have thought that stag heads, zebras and deer could add an element of elegance to a design.
In small doses you can also add some fun & whimsy for entertainment- they will be sure to grab some attention. How fun is a stainless steel moose shot glass or a wine pour.
To complete this look our Benjamin Moore colours are Distant Gray (OC-68 ), a very bright white , Onyx (2133-10 )for the dramatic and Metallic Silver (2132-60 )for a softer look.
