Breath of Fresh Air

Just breathe ….relax and take a minute. A calming message of 2014, we all need to slow down & take a minute from all technology, phones and distractions and just relax. Our homes should be the first place that you can create the environment to help you get away from the stress of your day.

Benjamin Moore’s colour of the year for 2014 is BM 806 –  Breath of Fresh Air. A soft whisper of blue taking inspiration from comfort and simplicity. It is a great colour to create a backdrop in your home, light & airy and will give you the perfect colour to relax and breathe! 2014 colour trends are shifting to soft pastels with a hint of colour which are to be the new neutrals. These soft filtered pastel colours add just a hint of blue, green, pink & lavender to provide comfort to your surroundings and also with each different tint can express your personal style. These soft neutrals add a soft backdrop to showcase all of your belongings in your home- your furnishings, art and décor. And when combined with other colours can create either a calm or dramatic look.

Here are a few pieces of décor to bring a breath of fresh air into your home.

1. ‘Submerge’ painting, 2. Ombre wallcovering, 3. Spa stripe fabric, 4. Soft floral fabric, 5. Light blue glass votives, 6. Breath of Fresh Air glass based lamp, 7. Knitted blue throw.

What do you feel about the new neutrals for 2014? How are you going to use them in your home this year?
