Home Trend : Moroccan Details

MHD_hometrend_moroccan details_insp

Morocco has an endless array of design inspiration, from the hand punched brass lanterns to the intricate ceramic tiled interiors and beautiful mother of pearl delicately inlaid wooden jewelry boxes. Little bits of Moroccan inspired decor trends have come and gone throughout the years and are on a high for home trends 2014.

This is a great trend to try in your home, you can go with a few pieces to add just a hint or go full-on Marrakesh. A popular piece for the past few years has been the Moroccan poufs, used as footstools, side tables or just for a bright pop of colour in nearly any space. A personal favourite would be the Moroccan lanterns; the intricate detailing and patterns are amazing and glow with beautiful light patterns.

How would you incorporate this hot Moroccan detail trend in your home?

For Moroccan inspired colour, try these Benjamin Moore hues: Rose Parade 2086-20, Teal Stone 663 + Orange Burst 2015-20.

Home Trend : Concrete Accents

Concrete is an amazing material to work with, it’s completely customizable both in shape and colour, it has a limitless amount of applications and it is a modern finish. Using concrete in outdoor settings has become extremely popular, and not in the usual sense, now concrete is being used for custom outdoor furniture and decor accents. With the growing popularity of the material, concrete has been used in interior applications for quite some time and the trend seems to have become a staple in modern design.

Concrete can be cast in many shapes and forms and stained in an array of colours. I prefer the natural, raw state of the material with a simple clear finish. How do you like concrete in an interior? Would you add it to your home?

Below we have featured some of our favourite concrete decor accents available at Mountain Home Decor in Whistler, BC. These pieces are a great way to add a touch of industrial chic to your spaces.

Home Trend : Warm Wood

MHD_hometrend_warm wood_insp

In the past two years grey weathered wood has become a huge trend in both finishing materials and furniture, along with the popular dark espresso almost-black stained wood of the past several years. However, warm toned wood has made a big comeback, often paired with neutral colour palettes featuring fresh pops of white and black for contrast – seen in many of the inspiration photos above. This is a great tone of wood for flooring, furnishings and decor accessories. Below we have featured some of our favourite warm wood decor accents available at our shop!
