We live in a crazy sped up world. A world where people no longer wear watches but check their mobile communication devise which beep and twitter at them all day long. A world where their mobile calendars sound to remind them to keep moving forward to their next task. A world where sometimes it’s hard to catch one’s breathe. So in this racy world isn’t it a wonderful thing to be able to go home to a calm and inviting space where time does not stop but gently carries one along at a slow and steady pace? And what better way to create this atmosphere than to decorate your home with a ‘good old fashion’ clock. Clocks slow us down. They remind us that time does not race by but moves slowly forward.

Olivier Mourao is a London, England based painter who first discovered the Mediterranean island of Ibiza “at the height of its heyday” in the mid 1970’s. Mourao purchased this beautiful eight bedroom, 14,500 sq.ft. residence designed by architect Juan Carlos Larios Martínez in 2005. He saw the home as a blank canvas with Mediterranean structural and decorative elements, which he could build upon to create his dream vacation home. “I like to take things that have an ancient feel and give them a contemporary edge,” he says, this is very apparent in his eclectic yet glamorous personal style.
What do you think of Mourao’s Ibiza home? The bronze circular mirror in the bathroom and the bone inlaid furniture in the living room are my favorite pieces!
