Colour of the Month : Wild Aster

COTM_Wild Aster

Blush pink is no longer just for little girls, Wild Aster 1240 is the perfect shade of pale pink for any age. The grey undertone in Wild Aster gives this colour a sophisticated edge; allowing the soft, subtle tones to serve as a neutral in many different colour palette’s.

For a modern touch, try Wild Aster with a range of grey’s and a pop of crisp white – see inspiration images above.

Benjamin Moore describes this colour beautifully. “A pale gray undertone makes this subtle pink almost neutral; a delicate shade evocative of a field of wildflowers caressed by the wind on a summer day.”

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
Roger Caras (photographer and writer)

I am a lucky woman. My dog comes to work with me. Needless to say he is extraordinarily cute and looks great in our design shop. He looks so great in fact, that many people think he is a prop in our displays… that is until he moves and gives them a start. This month I am thinking about my love for dogs and expressing that love through design. Here are some fun and fabulous ways to celebrate your love for our sweet loyal friends.

With spring just around the corner, there’s no need to feel boxed in! Instead use your imagination to step out of the box! There seems to be a current trend towards box shelving. Adding a distinct flair to any decor. Whether you are a minimalist or have an eclectic side to you, there is a shelf for you. A fun addition to any home, you can change them up when you feel the urge. Some of my favorites are in a reclaimed teak, the sizes and configurations vary, making them perfect for any setting .I’ve chosen some soft washed colours to compliment the teak, they are Benjamin Moore colours: GOLDEN TAN 2152-40 TRANQUIL BLUE 2051-50 and SOUTHFIELD GREEN HC -129. All work well with the natural wood tones. So step in or out of the box!!!

A popular piece for the past few years has been the Moroccan poufs, used as footstools, side tables or just for a bright pop of colour in nearly any space. A personal favourite would be the Moroccan lanterns; the intricate detailing and patterns are amazing and glow with beautiful light patterns.

Spread Of The Week : Toronto Modern

MHD_spread of the week_toronto modern

This minimal + modern Toronto home was recently featured in Style At Home magazine, designed by interior design consultant and visual artist, Penny Dimos. This home has classic bones and architectural detail, which has been highlighted with the all-white wall scheme. The furniture contrasts the ethereal nature of the space, placing dark and masculine pieces grounds the room while adding visual interest using various textures and subtle patterns.

What do you think of this home? Do you like the stark white and black contrast?
